The Challenge

Local clients already knew the studio. Tourists didn’t. The previous website hid the artists' work, lacked style clarity, and made it hard for visitors to judge professionalism or book easily. The challenge was to make the studio’s quality immediate and accessible, show the work, show the people, while streamlining the booking process for users who are unfamiliar with the studio.

Strategy

The site was built around one principle: let the art speak first.

A refined booking form collects references and essential details upfront, enhancing communication and reducing the time spent on early consultations. A new grid system highlights styles instantly, supported by clear artist tags and profiles that bring personality forward.

The visual direction stays bright and warm, distinct from typical tattoo studio aesthetics, while remaining grounded in craft and authenticity.

Creative Direction

The design combines subtle nods to classic tattoo culture within a clean, contemporary layout. Typography, colour accents and direct CTAs provide familiarity without leaning into the dark, heavy visuals common in the industry.

The experience stays simple and intuitive: discover the artwork, meet the artists, and book with confidence. Smooth transitions and clear pathways create a calm, welcoming flow that reflects the studio’s approach.

Implementation

More than a portfolio, the website serves as La Cueva’s digital workspace, an environment where users can explore styles, understand the process and begin conversations with the team.

Modular sections allow the owner to update content without external support. The improved booking flow reduces back-and-forth, while the structure adapts easily for new artists and guest residencies. The site remains consistent and intuitive across all devices.

The Result

The redesigned website strengthened the studio’s international presence, contributed to a 12% increase in global engagement, and saved 300€ annually in translation and maintenance costs.
