Skateboarding serves as an effective outlet for combating stress and depression; however, it faces challenges, including a predominantly male demographic (77% of skaters) and a perception that intimidates potential participants.
"Join" aims to raise awareness about the inclusive benefits of skateboarding, emphasising its capacity for stress relief and freedom, while encouraging non-skaters, particularly those feeling intimidated by the sport, to participate.
This project creates engaging content for urban residents and university students interested in skateboarding through various media forms, including motion graphics and screen printing. The brand, "Join," differentiates itself by using a diverse colour palette and an inclusive typeface appealing to all audiences. The logo, featuring three plus signs representing skateboard bolts and a missing bolt as a circle, symbolises community and unity in skateboarding.
The artefacts and publications created serve as brand assets that can be monetised and utilised for commercial activities, promoting a more inclusive skateboarding culture that encourages participation regardless of gender, culture, or age.
